Fats Domino: Rock and Roll Legend dies aged 89

Fats Domino

Fats Domino, one of the most influential rock and roll performers of the 1950s and 60s, has died aged 89.

The American rock and roll artist was best known for his songs Ain’t That A Shame and Blueberry Hill.

The New Orleans singer sold more than 65 million records, outselling every 1950s rock and roll act except Elvis Presley.

His million-selling debut single, The Fat Man, is credited by some as the first ever rock and roll record.

An official from New Orleans coroner’s office confirmed the death, which was earlier announced by Domino’s daughter to a local television station.

Fats Domino had more than 30 hit singles

Fats Domino – whose real name was Antoine Domino Jr – was one of the first rhythm and blues artists to gain popularity with a white audience and his music was most prolific in the 1950s.

Domino had a string of number ones and more than 30 top 40 hits.

His music is also credited as a key influence on artists during the 1960s and 70s.

Elvis Presley referred to Fats Domino as “the real king of rock n roll” and Paul McCartney reportedly wrote the Beatles song Lady Madonna in emulation of his style.

In 1986 he was among the first inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but by his later life Domino would no longer leave his Louisiana hometown – not even to accept the award.

New Orleans-born musician and actor Harry Connick Jr is among those who have paid tribute to Domino on Twitter, saying he had “helped pave the way for New Orleans piano players”.

RIP fats domino… you helped pave the way for new orleans piano players… see you on top of that blueberry hill in the sky

Rapper LL Cool J paid tribute to Domino for being an inspiration to so many:

Rest in paradise to Fats Domino. He paved the way for so many. I remember listening to his music as a little boy. #Fatsdomino

And Samuel L Jackson cited the lyrics of one of Domino’s best loved songs:

I found My Thrill on “ Blueberry Hill”! RIP Fats Domino

Antoine “Fats” Domino Jr was born in New Orleans on 26 Feb 1928, the son of a violinist. His parents were of Creole origin, and French Creole was spoken in the family.

He was musically inclined from an early age and learned piano from his brother in law, the jazz banjo player, Harrison Verrett.

He was given his nickname by bandleader Bill Diamond for whom he was playing piano in honky-tonks as a teenager. He said the youngster’s technique reminded him of two other great piano players, Fats Waller and Fats Pichon.

Domino left school at the age of 14 to work in a bedspring factory by day, and play in bars by night. He was soon accompanying such New Orleans luminaries as Professor Longhair and Amos Milburn.

In the mid-1940s, he joined trumpeter Dave Bartholomew’s band, and the two co-wrote Domino’s first hit The Fat Man. Suddenly, the New Orleans sound became popular nationwide.

“Clean living keeps me in shape. Righteous thoughts are my secret…And New Orleans home cooking”

In an interview with the BBC in 1973, Domino spoke about his early life.

He said: “I was 17 when I made my first record in 1949. I never thought about being professional. I used to work in a lumberyard and that’s where I first heard a number on a jukebox and I liked it. It was a piano number. It was called ‘Swanee River Boogie’ by Albert Ammonds.”

Despite both musical heavyweights coming from New Orleans, Fats Domino said he only met Louis Armstrong twice in his life.

He told the BBC in a later interview: “I liked the way he was singing ‘Blueberry Hill’. See, a lot of people think I wrote ‘Blueberry Hill’ but I didn’t.

“That number was wrote in 1927 and I recorded that song in 1957. We just put a different background and I just sing it the way it would fit me and it came out great for me.”

Celebrity Deaths

The untimely death of George Michael will leave a void in the hearts and minds of adults and teenagers alike. He created a fictional persona in order to cope with his sexuality and pressures of media attention as he became an integral part of pop culture. George had an altruistic trait in his personality which facilitated his giving millions to charities and on a more personal note, to individuals he met on the street, such as George Michael.

Like many famous celebrities who have died during the past year, there are psychological aspects associated with how we mourn their loss. We know where we were and what we were doing when we learned of the death of George Michael or Robin Williams, the list is endless. Moments after we hear the news social media is saturated with videos and tributes of the late singers’ performances and lyrics.

Ironically whilst we feel the loss we have in fact rarely met these pop idols, we know little about their real lives and intimacies, we know nothing about the reality of the causes of their depression. These feelings of sadness are actually good for us to experience when a celebrity dies. The reason being that it heightens our sense of empathy and understanding of death.

Some celebrities die after a long life of service to entertainment whilst other are taken from us in their early life. Many have pretty normal lives with few major life problems while other struggles with alcohol, depression, suicide or narcotic abuse. Much of these can be attributed to a perpetual attempt to please the concert audiences to please their fans on tour and meet constantly higher expectations. When Robin Williams took his own life he was one of 40 million Americans suffering from depression. There is the constant struggle emotionally to hide behind the mask and put on a brave face. This alone requires a huge effort many fans never realize is part of celebrity culture. When he died at the age of 46 in 2014, Philip Hoffman was a versatile and gifted actor at the peak of his career. Yet in all, he was one of some 8,000 people who died from heroin poisoning. Celebrity deaths help us to understand the nature of addictions and its tragic consequences. When a loved one passes away, further it provides us with insight into our own coping strategies or the lack of coping skills. In the context of Celebrity culture, it helps fans and viewers to assess their own values and beliefs about death and also helps fans understand the full humanity of celebrities and the problems they have to endure on tour and the struggle to maintain a degree of intimacy about their private family lives and relationships. At the hearing of the late George Michael’s death, it became nostalgic for me and many others when we reflect back psychologically to the time and place we heard that song and its lyrics. This can produce bittersweet nostalgia and re-assess what’s working properly in our own lives. For many Georges, death will bring them back to their late adolescence when they were making career choices and making serious decisions about their future. These thought or cognitive exercises are helpful in that they help us separate what is important in our lives at the moment and what is not. When we reflect back on Georges life journey we can see how his image had changed significantly, and this became one of the main reasons why he led a reclusive lifestyle trying to avoid concerts and facing his fans. Coming together in social media is another helpful coping strategy for fans of the late George Michael. Collective mourning between fan groups helps us connect emotionally with others who share similar and feelings and the impact of his musical genius on our own journey.

These strange feelings of sadness may, as a matter of fact, be good for us to experience when a celebrity dies. Some celebrities die after a long life of service to entertainment whilst other are taken from us in their early life. Celebrity deaths help us to understand the nature of addictions and its tragic consequences. Personality Traits and Reality TV Fans

Celebrities we see and become psychologically attached to are simply known for being known, and nothing more. Celebrities dating other celebrities often engage like celebrity footballers with highly attractive models and exquisite homes in various countries, for simply kicking a ball around a pitch or simply being a sports commentator. You and your friends may be the celebrity worshippers, however, this is what we psychologists call “parasocial interaction” which means that while we know so much about their lives, they know probably nothing about yours.

Whereas it is certainly true that some individuals decide to pursue acting or singing careers for the pure love of the art forms in question, the great majority of celebrity wannabes are largely driven by the outcomes (e.g., fame, money, adulation). The extraordinary attention that is lavished on celebrities (not to mention the outlandish sums of money) makes it easy to succumb to one’s hype. Many of these celebs in the Big Brother House and those in the Australian Jungle, may feel a sense of guilt about their actual celebrity role in these well-known annual shows of reality television.

However, those who produce reality TV shows like “I’m a Celebrity” have to deal with the rights and regulations of the contestants who volunteer to go out to the jungle. Producers have to get the mix right between exposing well-known Celebrities to oppression, isolation, food deprivation, fear and much more. Questions are raised year after year about the ethics of permitting the campmates to engage in high-risk behavior, even though rigorous risk assessments are carried out and double checked daily. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Article 5) states that “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment”. There is the issue of facilitating and making mandatory, campmates who have fears of spiders, crocodiles, snakes, and rats to engage in the Bushtucker trials to win meals for their team. We have to admire the producers on the other hand for providing you the audience with light entertainment and balancing the risks of exposure to the permitted regulations. The structure of reward and punishment is common to all reality TV shows but we must not lose sight that it is a game-show at the end of the day. Participants in the jungle ought never to be made feel physiologically or psychologically worse as a result of their engagement with the Bushtucker trials and general living arrangements. If we form the wrong relationship with certain campmates, we think of the separation from family and friends and the audience reaction. All participants following assessment will have read and signed their agreed contracts but also an informed consent form. They must know all risks they will knowingly and willingly undertake and also on completion of the show be fully debriefed and returned to the same state of physiological and psychological health.

Celebrities we see and become psychologically attached to are simply known for being known, and nothing more. Celebrities dating other celebrities often engage like celebrity footballers with highly attractive models and exquisite homes in various countries, for simply kicking a ball around a pitch or simply being a sports commentator. Fame also can lead to chronic self-consciousness and self-destructive behavior in many well-known and famous celebrities. You and your friends may be the celebrity worshippers, however, this is what we psychologists call “parasocial interaction” which means that while we know so much about their lives, they know probably nothing about yours.

The Psychology Behind I’m A Celebrity

Soon we will be tuning in once more to beat the winter blues by watching the new arrivals in the Australian Jungle. The campmates have been carefully selected, and evaluated by the show’s psychologists and psychiatrists to assess their psychological fitness to endure three weeks of stress and endurance. They will be living in very unnatural environments for the three weeks and will experience various levels of psychological intensity and invariable levels of coping skills to become King or Queen of the Jungle. We can recall Tracy Solomon’s hilarious giggles and the effervescent Joe Swash, now her new beau, and last year’s Vicky Pattison. But have you really thought about the effects this exposure has on their individual psyche and physiology? Here is a glimpse into the work of the TV psychologist who would be a consultant to the show and what producers need to take into account in the production of the show. As a Celebrity Psychologist who has studied their behavior on and off-screen for many years I want to outline the major psychological issues they have to deal with.

1. The Power of the Situation

They will evaluate other campmates motivation and fears on the Bushtucker trials and become competitive. If the viewers bring their own negativities to individual celebrities by voting them onto more Bushtucker trials then the Celebs motivation center is alarmed to push themselves to the limits to “save face”. Personality and power of the situation work together to predict celebrities social behavior in the Jungle.

2. Impression Formation.

All campmates are out to impress and whilst we know from psychological and media research they score high on Narcissism traits in most cultures, nevertheless, they will be motivated to show their other side some of the time, but not all of the time. Levels of male and female physical attractiveness will make a first impression on viewers and this will influence voting behavior, their psychological makeup comes second. Viewers agree on who is hot and who is not! People have a strong tendency to associate physical beauty with positive personality characteristics. If a campmate views another campmate as more attractive, then he or she will see that other person as a possible alliance. In past series of I’m A Celebrity these alliances often become Jungle romances with potential for off-screen romance. Attractive females form an onscreen alliance with attractive males in the Jungle. (Maybe not facilitated by the Leeches!) campmates will also work out who is not to be trusted and who will stab them in the back, so to speak. Bring out the Lady C to put the camp in order. Alliances are vital as people have to stay alive and survive in restricted diets so strategizing is central. Getting people to like you means a lot. Watch out for deception and deceit in the camp as campmates will gradually disclose what information they disclose to others. Manipulation of information and personalities will become established within the first three days of being there. The most common strategy contestants use is self-promotion. They champion their own cause by extolling their own virtues, demonstrating their abilities and minimizing their shortcomings. Supplication will be used and seen by those who constantly remark about tiredness hunger diet and lethargy.

3. Lights, Camera, Attraction.

A wide range of emotions will be displayed in the Jungle as the campmates’ emotional mechanisms in the brain will be stretched to their full capacity. Winning a Bushtucker trial will bring immense joy and self-satisfaction winning a meal for their campmates. High arousal during some of the trials will produce emotions of love for some campmates.

4. Stress and Coping in the Jungle environment.

Stress produces dominance in some individual campmates and so we see a shift in the parameters of the game. To combat the stress some campmates will form alliances rather spontaneously, becoming an extremely important and predominant gamesmanship tactic. Stress among campmates generates another strategic tactic known as gossiping about the others.

5. Physical Stress

The entire jungle experiences are imbued with physically grueling tasks not normally experienced in their daily lives back in UK or USA. There is a duty of care towards all campmates and this has to be balanced out within the context of the reality show. Physical stressors such as food deprivation also alter their psychological functioning such as motivation and irritability besides frustration and increased awareness of their isolation from family back at home.

The campmates have been carefully selected, and evaluated by the show’s psychologists and psychiatrists to assess their psychological fitness to endure three weeks of stress and endurance. If a campmate views another campmate as more attractive, then he or she will see that other person as a possible alliance. The New Phenomena of Political Trolls

Television news and political programmes are producing fascinating footage of politicians in action. They are now turning their tactics to using all forms of social media to attack their opponents often with potential for inflicting emotional hurt and demolishing the other’s self-esteem and character. Here are my responses to a high profile German journalist who like many others, has raised salient questions about the Trump V Clinton debate and campaign. There are many others like it, so have a read and gain some insight into their political character and personalities.

Are we witnessing a rise in the number of trolls, their visibility or their influence on key issues? If so, what caused it?

The scientific literature on trolls is still sparse in Europe, UK and North America due to the covert nature of anonymous trolls who are normal teenagers or young adults and difficulty in gathering objective data. Political trolling falls into a radically different category of trolling as its usually very public although not exclusively, and in many ways has become much more widespread and salient and is highly unlikely to go away. Those politicians who deliberately troll do so for several reasons. Some primary evidence shows us that it is normally associated with Machiavellian personality traits with those scoring high on Mach gaining high emotional payoffs the more intense is the reaction from their political opponent. In the Trump V Clinton scenario, we can see a significant rise in the frequency and intensity of disparaging remarks, insults, biased towards Trump with the aim of fuelling his ego identity and narcissistic charismatic personality type. The revenge motive is evident in both Clinton and Trump but female politicians are more likely to utilize other motives such as the political power motive to assert themselves against online or offline abuse.

What makes political trolling different from other kinds of trolling? Is there a difference?

Yes, Political trolling is a relatively new phenomenon, radically different from classical teenage trolls who are anonymous, but with the same ubiquitous aims to destroy one’s opponent. It’s a form of overt and highly manipulative political dialogue with underlying sinister motives to increase one’s political status across the wider community by using all forms of social media especially tweets, to wage psychological warfare incessantly against their opponent. An important element is the skillful use of political rhetoric associated with historic sexual demeanors to break down their political opponent emotionally. We see much evidence of this against Trump primarily with copious reports of his misogynist attitudes towards women especially younger women and his self-reports of sexual prowess in his younger days. Clinton is a knowledgeable and shrewd lawyer and international diplomat whose ability to troll Trump has more intellectual diversity in that she can use social media in all its fullness to expose his profound lack of international politics and diplomatic relations. Political trolling is moving fast forward and enormous speed even is seen in the UK with post-Brexit attitudes and strategies. The term we psychologists give to this new phenomena is “Strategic trolls”.

Do you believe political parties intentionally weaponize their (non-paid) trolls, for example, to attack their enemies, change the conversation, or discredit them?

My own view is that any political party are now aware of the huge psychological potential of social media to radically change international opinion and decision-making to attack their enemies online in particular. There is growing evidence of the highly covert nature of political trolling utilizing anonymity and constructed false email accounts etc to intensify the intrigue and reinforce the enigma between both opponents. Another clever ploy of political parties is to upset online forums with the motive to destroy the content of high-level political dialogue and cause mayhem by introducing radically provocative political agendas into the online debate. The overall aim is to produce political instability and persuade members to change their attitudes. Politicians now use what we call strategic rolls and can operate in groups rather than as lone politicians. They can create “multiple personalities” in that each created personality may have different political tactics to win over the electorate. Their onscreen “friendly” presence will always have hidden motives.

A lot of times, looking at comments online, you can get the impression that the whole world is made up out of closeted racists, women-haters, extremists, and xenophobes. How reflective are such comments of author’s character, and of audience and community in general?

Psychological research findings to date have shown that trolls normally hold extreme views mostly politically or economically. Their aim is to cause irritation to others, steal money, build false hopes, deceive others and cause widespread sexual or political abuse by skillful use of Twitter, Instagram and so on. Those individuals who perpetrate these hideous online crimes differ in terms of their personalities form teenage trolls to leading politicians.

What do trolls get out of it, what is the payoff?

See my previous references above. It is the high emotional payoffs the political troll achieves by getting a reaction from the opponent. Some politicians use tactical trolling. These take more time and effort to construct the persona. They usually have the support of party members who endorse the nature and content of the tactical trolls. They use humor and appear friendly on stage to put viewers at ease with their power and self-styled charisma. Their story is well sculptured to score political points but to maintain as far as possible a level of political integrity. They will use gimmicks to win sympathy and bring out the “nurturing” aspect of who they wish other delegates to know who they really are.

Where do we draw the line (Facebook, news sites, regulators)? Many argue we should keep the Internet wild in order to keep free speech, but it often makes reasonable conversation impossible. So when should we delete, ban, or prosecute?

Free speech is psychologically important to all nations. We must adopt moral and personal responsibility for what information we put online. In the UK we have various forms of legislation to bring trolls to court if they are traced by police and seen to have intentionally damaged vulnerable others online. Such examples are the Defamation Act, The Misuse of Communications Act. Politicians need to have a common European policy that makes Internet trolling a punishable crime as trolls have been associated in the UK for several years with suicides and rise in self-harming. No easy answer as the giant Americans like Google, Facebook, etc have taken some steps to deal with trolls but is far from adequate due to changes in the UK, American, and European Legislation.

Teenage Problems

There are two main forces of adolescence the onset of sexuality and the mandate that teenagers will move away from their parents gradually and from being an infant to childhood and on to adolescence and move further away from their parents. They become virtually allergic to the parents almost reducing parents to tears. Teenage boys will become covert and hide away from parents whilst girls will challenge and become motivated by pushing the parent’s buttons to test the stress threshold.

The laws and rules of human sexuality prescribe the male teenagers attraction to the mother as his parent and also his mentor, but herein lies the conflict. He will struggle with his father-son relationship as he becomes fully aware of same-sex feelings and tries to negotiate this developmental pathway he has to work hard to refine the emotional closeness and affection showed by his father, or in many cases nowadays none at all. As the stress levels rise in the male and female teenagers, the males who have much less verbal reasoning skills will avoid any attempt to negotiate with parents preferring to demonstrate their Fight-Or-Flight competences.

The testosterone levels predominate over verbal skills and so he gets ready for acts of aggression. They will smash a few glasses, saucers or cups to demonstrate their anger and frustration. They really can’t handle confrontation and this is the release valve blowing off emotional steam. There is also at this stage a moving away from the previous state of selves and emotional attachment towards an adolescent battlefield where daily battles are fought with both parents. Neither side has the psychological skills mandatory to make and resolve sense out of the situation. Boys will always prefer to go into “Flight mode” as a coping mechanism moving out of the home for a few days with his mates “somewhere”. The retaliatory spirit motivates him to leave no trace as to where he is, no texts or phone calls to parents but his inner-self will motivate him to return like the prodigal son without judgment. Girls will do the opposite by engaging in mini-battles with both parents going into playing mind games and stretching their parents psychologically with no outward displays of respect or affection.

The teenage males and females have little control over brain activity and day by day they have to be mindful of the surrounding pressures on them to develop a smooth level of physical emotional and cognition. Whilst the males wish to rise early and go to the gym, their teenage brain will not allow it and they will laze around in bed most of the day engaging in listening to music, fiddling with their smartphones, texting, sexting and listening to their favorite music. Their lives become rapidly passive on every dimension and they are not bothered. The teenage girl is different in that she will try to deal with the psychological dilemma in a more sensible way. They feel it’s unacceptable to be now attached to parents as that’s for children, nor do they wish to be dependent on them. Furthermore, they see themselves as an adult deluding themselves as they are a child by law until they are eighteen years old, in the eyes of the law. Here comes more confusion as they become engrossed in teenage behaviors of sexting, texting and transmitting inappropriate photographs across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram Snapchat and other social media platforms. Their perception of being seen by society as a “child” is abhorrent to them and this triggers off more high risque behaviors offline and online. The nice charming and conforming daughter now acts and behaves like a little monster untameable and sometimes innately more challenging emotionally. They know the strategy to break the parent’s emotional resilience and win the day. The motivational states of teenage daughters are to get the message across to parent’s that “I am not dependent on you and don’t try to love me, it doesn’t work”.

Because their sexuality is not such a big issue in their relationship with their parents some teenage girls can build up a strong relationship with the dad, only if the father can grapple with his daughter’s tantrums and displays of anger, frustration, confusion, and resentment. Interestingly even though the son goes off the court, the teenage girl will wish to stay on center court preserving the attachment to both parents.

There are two main forces of adolescence the onset of sexuality and the mandate that teenagers will move away from their parents gradually and from being an infant to childhood and on to adolescence and move further away from their parents. They become virtually allergic to the parents almost reducing parents to tears. There is a full-scale enigma here as the feelings which pull kids towards parents during teenage years also becomes repulsive to the teenagers. Teenage boys will become covert and hide away from parents whilst girls will challenge and become motivated by pushing the parent’s buttons to test the stress threshold. Girls will do the opposite by engaging in mini-battles with both parents going into playing mind games and stretching their parents psychologically with no outward displays of respect or affection.

Intrusive Thoughts

What are intrusive thoughts?

We know from psychological research findings that we all men and women at some time or other have disturbing and intrusive thoughts. They are associated with anxiety and anxiety disorders but more of that later. Clients often ask me are these normal as they are disturbing? Am I going insane or mad? At the outset, they seem pathological wacky but nevertheless worrying. Physical anxiety symptoms like these drive people to seek help from psychologists and psychiatrists because of the potential frightening nature of the thoughts. Some of my GP referrals, young women tell me about intrusive thoughts of being harmed by their boyfriend, or being in a car crash, or drowning on holiday in the Caribbean or wherever.

It is the intrusive thoughts of anxiety that act as a trigger for an anxiety disorder if they are debilitating and frequent. Each disorder has its own type of intrusive thoughts and they can, in fact, destroy your emotional stability and emotional intelligence. Intrusive thoughts consistently enter your mind against your will.

Why do some people have them? We do know that both genders experience them, but research studies inform us that those high on emotional resilience can cope with them more adequately and erase them within minutes while other personality types who are orientated towards pessimism have more difficulty trying to control them and eradicate them altogether. Optimists tend to have that emotional resilience so can weather the storm of intrusive thoughts. However, it’s the intensity of the content of the past event that is the real issue. A young woman in my psychological clinic told me of her uninvited sexual encounter with her boyfriend that was aggressive unwanted and hurtful physically and emotionally. She explained it to me as a virtual rape followed by acts of aggression by her boyfriend, She was in a love-hate relationship, but the intrusive thought was linked to a previous real event. In some women and also men, I find the intrusive thoughts were scary to the extreme but not associated with previous real-time events.

Other types of intrusive thoughts are of violent thoughts. Some GP referrals I see have intrusive thoughts associated with exposure to social media especially meeting males online and on cyber-dating sites which have led to violent or aggressive experiences. The other category is sexual thoughts and like violent thoughts, unwanted sexual thoughts are associated with profound acts of aggression or scenarios where the woman might feel guilty as having been the trigger for the sexual encounter and its horrific consequences.

Those with panic attacks have very different types of intrusive thinking patterns. Their thoughts are usually about the panic attack or their health, such as overworking at the gym or being terrified by what seems like bullying from my male boss. Some constantly think about their panic attacks so are in a constant state of hyper-vigilance which reinforces the anxiety and produces a series of intrusive thoughts of fainting or dying.

Those with intrusive thoughts can overcome them with professional help from Clinical Psychologists, Health Psychologists or CBT Cognitive Behaviour Therapists. To ensure that they are Chartered which gives you the public a cast iron guarantee that you are seen and treated by an appropriately qualified health professional. CBT helps you to challenge your negative thinking patterns and break the cycle of negative automatic thoughts and find relief for the long-term. A trendy intervention currently is Mindfulness. This innovative approach helps you to come off your daily thought rituals which include intrusive thoughts, and focus on self-awareness. It’s pretty effective for those who can sustain the weekly exercise and associated reading. CBT will help you to control your intrusive thoughts and improve your tenacity to build up emotional resilience and increase your ability to remain calm enjoying peace and happiness.

Templates Define A Website Layout

Templates define a website layout and can also define fonts, colors, images, and many other features of a webpage. Using a pre-made WordPress theme is usually a lot easier than designing a website from scratch. Website SEO templates range from free to custom-made.

One of the problems of using free templates is that your website won’t be unique. There could be hundreds or thousands of other webmasters using that same theme. Think about it, if you come across a free template that you think looks pretty cool chances are that so did a lot of others.

Another problem with free themes are that they usually come with many restrictions. One requirement that the free WordPress templates usually have is that you have to link back to the website that you got it from. If you are trying to build your website ranking you may not want to give away a link. Another problem can be that you will not be permitted to use the free WordPress template on a commercial website.

For the most part when you pay for a WordPress SEO theme you will be getting a better quality. Large sites that sell WordPress themes hire designers to create professional SEO WordPress themes, and then they have the right to resell the theme as many times as they wish, this in effect lowers the price. Designers love this arraignment as they don’t have to deal with customers, and it’s good for the customer too as they get a lower price. For new websites on a shoe string budget a low price is usually a determining factor.

One thing to keep in mind though, larger websites sell a lot of SEO WordPress themes and you don’t want your website looking like your competitors. So be sure to choose a WordPress template that you haven’t seen around before and maybe even edit it some to make it unique.

Many websites have begun selling exclusive WordPress SEO templates, WordPress SEO themes that are only sold once and then removed from their website. You will end up with a unique WordPress theme that is exclusive to your website although you may end up paying more that you would have paid than just hiring a designer. CoolSEO has excellent exclusive themes: http://wordpressthemes.coolseo.co.uk/themes which can be tweaked and changed for extra uniqueness without the added expense.

If you hire a professional designer you will be able to specify exactly what you want, choose your colours, images, fonts, etc. There are obviously many choices you can make when it comes to selecting a website SEO WordPress template, once you figure out your budget you should be able to choose the WordPress SEO theme that is right for you.

, if you look around at the well-known Webmaster Forums you’ll find many people looking for a sponsor of templates they built.. These Templates can be for forums, directories or blogs (in particular WordPress Blogs). These designer design and build themes for the software of their choice and then release it for free.

Under the license terms a user of such a WordPress SEO template needs to leave the sponsor links intact. These links are usually located in the footer. By finding sponsors for their WordPress templates these designers actually make money. If you are a good designer it might take you an hour or two to develop a nice looking SEO WordPress theme. You can easily sell sponsored links on a web page for between $35 to $100 each. Depending on where you live this can be a significant source of income.

From a sponsor point of view this means if the WordPress SEO theme is promoted well, he get a lot of back links from other blogs. If those blogs grow in popularity and Google Page Rank, imagine a free WordPress theme with your link in it used 100 times- this can be significant. The real beauty of this “seo trick” is not to concentrate on the publicly available sponsorships you find in forums, but to identify a designer who delivers good work and to contact this designer and to work with them directly. Bypass the middleman, bypass the competition.

In general this seems to be a market which is underdeveloped with high link building potential. , if used in a mix of normal link building and SEO it can be a great tool to make your blog or website more popular. If you want to rank high in search engines, with Google and other search engines becoming more difficult to deal with you have to become more creative.
